“Although I’d heard Sgt. Peppers probably hundreds of times, it was like I’d never really listened to it. When I properly tuned in it was a revelation.” – Dean Chalkley
The difference between ‘hearing’ and ‘listening’ is a fine line. Inspired by the later, Dean Chalkley and Art Director Ciaran O’Shea, lent their eyes and ears to visually interpret Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the seminal album by The Beatles.
The result was a progressive, and at times abstract reflection of the album. The work employs a range of approaches, pure photography, amalgamations of print, text, painting and collage in colour and monochrome. This free form approach became a very physical response producing a renewed and highly stimulating perspective.
