The Arctic Monkeys, Fort Lauderdale, 2011. The band had been on the road ‘Breaking the States’. I caught up with Alex, Cookie, Nick and Helders as they rolled into the usually sunny state of Florida. We were unexpectedly hit by outrageously high winds and torrential showers, these wayward weather conditions didn’t deter us though, we dodged them. The band were certainly moving in on the USA in this period, it was like them being reborn over again, they were on a mission, a mission from Sheffield.
