THE NEW FACES FINE ART PRINTS The New Faces Exhibition is Dean Chalkley’s most recent body of work. A collection of 30 images depicting a group of ‘Modernists’, young men and women bound together by their passion for a particular way of life. Sharp dressing, dancing and a way of conducting and presenting themselves that swims against the tide of ‘Don’t give a damn’, mediocrity that is evident in many of their contemporaries. Exploring the hinterland between documentary and formal portraiture, Dean chose a photographic studio environment as the backdrop to the the series. The Young Modernists in the Exhibition are ‘Real People’ and dress in their own clothes.
